James D. Thomas, 47, of Bradenville, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
Born October 31, 1978, in Modesto, CA, he was the son of John A. Thomas and Margaret (Donihue) Thomas of Greensburg.
James was employed at Comcast. He was a past president and current vice president of the Derry Township Volunteer Fire Department, Company No. 1, Bradenville. James was a member of the American Greek Club, the Kingston Veterans and Sportsmen Club, and the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department Social Club. A lifelong baseball fan, he enjoyed coaching for his son's baseball teams with Latrobe Little League and Derry Area Youth Athletic Association.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James B. and Elizabeth Thomas and Mildred Donihue; and an aunt, Jamie Brackin.
Besides his parents, James is survived by one son, Landon James Thomas; one brother, Scott R. Thomas of North Versailles; and aunts and uncles, Patricia Trout, John Brackin, and Donald Donihue; and his son's mother, Amanda Hovance Thomas, her parents, John and Wilma Hovance, and her brother, J.P. Hovance.
Family and friends will be received from 3 to 8 pm Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. Members of the Bradenville Volunteer Fire Department will hold a service at 7 pm Tuesday in the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11 am Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in the funeral home with Rev. Aron Maghsoudi officiating. Interment will follow at Unity Cemetery. Donations may be made to Latrobe Federal Credit Union, 1812 Ligonier Street, Latrobe, PA 15650 marked for Landon Thomas.
