James A. Thomas, Jr., age 79, of Englewood, passed away 9:20 A.M. Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at his home. He loved God, his family, enjoyed working and being outdoors. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by parents Arnold & Stella Thomas, sisters Margaret Lee, Alice Ruth Atkins, Annette Pulley, brother Ernest Thomas.

Survivors-Wife: Kay Stakely Thomas; Daughter: Tina Thomas Gates; Sons: Darren Thomas, Dustin (Susan) Thomas; Grandchildren: Mallori J. Gates, Jake (Brittany) Thomas, Cameron Land, Noah Land and Caleigh (Kyle) Birdwell; Great grandchildren: Maddi Petrillo, Rhett Thomas and Marli Thomas; Sister & brother-in-law: Pat and Pat Cook; Brother & sister-in-law: Bo & Tammy Stakely; Sister-in-law: Chris Shutt; Several nieces & nephews

Graveside service and interment 12:00 P.M. Friday, Chestua Baptist Cemetery, Rev. Neville Smith and Rev. Pete Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M Thursday at Chestua Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Jake Thomas, Noah Land, Kyle Birdwell, Travis Nichols, Josh Stakely and Samson Stakely.
