James Edward Thompson was born April 23, 1950, in Henderson, TN and left this earth on August 7, 2024, in Shreveport. He served from 1969 to 1982, in the United States Army. He worked at Owens Illinois Box Plant in Minden; owner of trucking company; a police officer and a deputy. James was an avid hunter, loved cars, riding motorcycles and spending time with family and friends. He was baptized at the age of 11 and remained faithful in the Lord Jesus Christ the rest of his last life.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughters, Sue Thompson Rowell of Coushatta, Florence Thompson Adkins (Jacob) of Pahoa, HI, Judy Thompson Chastain of Austin, TX; sons, Daniel Thompson of Bossier City, Richard Miller (Ashley) of Bossier City, Marcus Thompson (Carlie) of Princeton; sisters, Carolyn Mladan of Georgetown, TX, Paulette Thompson Jones of Heflin, and Rose Young (Mark) of Southern Pines, NC. He had 19 grandkids and 6 great-grandkids. Numerous nieces and nephews. Special friends Davelyn Cuellar, Guy Cade, Sandra Lofton, Junior Reed, Tiffany and Renata Thompson and Lorenzo Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ellen Corbit Thompson, brother, Donald Thompson, brothers-in-law, Milos Mladan, Willie Jones and grandson, Chase Stevens.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Rose Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, LA with Bro. Chet Johson and Bro. Gregory Hurst officiating. Inurnment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden with military rites.
