James Anthony "Tony" Martin, of Oxford, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the age of 79. Mr. Martin retired as a truck driver. He frequently traveled across the county and his favorite destination was the mountains. Mr. Martin took great joy in riding his motorcycle, playing riffs on the guitar, and making people laugh. He had a big heart for animals, especially his beloved dogs. Additionally, Mr. Martin loved watching his grandson, Dalton, play baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cisro and Dorothy Martin; and siblings, Julie Martin, Jerry Myers, Janie Grant, Janet Morgan, Joe Martin, Javan Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Martin; children, Josh and Angela Wilcox, Mark Banks, Jamie and Cristal Martin, Javan and Angie Martin, Melissa Martin; grandchildren, Dalton Wilcox, Brice Martin, Chloee Martin, Blake Henry, Luke Martin, Ethan Martin, June Martin, Jade Martin, Kai Casper, Laney Bragg, Caleb Osborn, Makayla Osborn, Hope Osborn, Hailey Osborn; great-grandchild, Zayden Martin; siblings, Jack and Wendy Martin, Jonny Martin, Jennie Tallant; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Martin will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Blake Rowe officiating, and interment following in East Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens, 87 Scenic Highway South, in Lawrenceville. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home two hours prior to his service from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 P.M.
