James Tucker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crestview Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home on Mar. 23, 2026.
James "Bubba" Tucker, age 74, of Jasper (formerly of Adamsville), passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, after an extended illness.

Bubba was born on January 8, 1952, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Freeman and Mildred Tucker. He was a graduate of Ensley High School and went on to found James Tucker Produce, where he dedicated 42 years of hard work, building not only a successful business but also lifelong friendships with customers and brokers. Known by many as the best produce man in the Southeast, Bubba took great pride in his work and the relationships he cultivated over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Mildred Tucker; his brother, Billy Tucker; and his in-laws, George and Betty Dudchock.

Bubba is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Elizabeth "Beth" Dudchock Tucker; his daughters, Kim Stewart (Cary) and Missy Britton (Taylor); his son, Matthew Tucker (Jenya); and his beloved grandchildren, Jordan and Brent McCaleb, and George and Mila Tucker. He is also survived by his siblings, Jerry Ann McCarron, Tommy (Karen) Tucker, Debra (Billy) Champion, Cathy Tucker, Nancy Tucker, and Mike Tucker.

Bubba was known for his intelligence and curiosity, and he was a witty man who could share insight on nearly any subject. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially being Pops to his grandchildren. Being a grandfather was the role he enjoyed most. Bubba and Beth built a successful business together along with building their marriage, working side-by-side for decades while raising their family, taking the kids on long camping vacations, taking annual beach vacations for the whole family, and enjoying their time on Smith Lake.

In his later years, Bubba found great happiness tending to his garden and growing "Bubba's Best Tomatoes," a labor of love that reflected his gardening expertise. Those tomatoes were absolutely the best.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Crestview Memorial Gardens, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Cary Stewart, Jordan McCaleb, Brent McCaleb, Davis Dudchock, Russell Dudchock, and Will Reeves.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
