LINCOLN
James M. Tuffy, 85, of Lincoln and Pawtucket, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at home. He was the husband of the late Carol A. (Horsfield) Tuffy.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late John and Beatrice (Morris) Tuffy. He resided in Lincoln for the past nine years, previously residing in The Villages, FL.
Mr. Tuffy entered the United States Marine Corps, and served honorably and faithfully. He was honorably discharged, attaining the rank of Corporal.
Mr. Tuffy worked as a superintendent for the former Cooley Inc of Pawtucket, retiring in 1989 after 30 years of service to the company.
James enjoyed golfing, coaching baseball, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Irish Social Club and a former communicant of St. Mary Church in Pawtucket. He looked forward to participating in the the St. Patrick Day parade in Pawtucket.
He is survived by two sons; Sean P. Tuffy and his wife Petra of Cumberland; Christopher J. Tuffy and his wife Kimberly of Cumberland; his son-in-law Maurice Harriman of West Warwick; his five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Kerri E. Harriman and brother of the late Thomas Tuffy, Margaret Tuffy, Katherine Woodhead, Veronica Whyte, and Helen O'Neill.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to James' Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Friday from 4 to 7 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at 7 PM. Committal prayers will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2023 at 11:30 AM at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd STE 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
