James Uplinger Obituary
He was born in DuBois on October 30, 1943, a son of the late Roy Uplinger and Elsie (Dickey) Uplinger.
Mr. Uplinger was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Jefferson County Veteran's Honor Guard and volunteered many hours honoring fellow veterans and participating in local veteran events.
On July 3, 1965, he married the former Laura Lorraine Lougee. Laura preceded him in death on April 7, 2008.
Jim loved farming, hunting, and fishing.
He was a member of the Punxsutawney Loyal Order of Moose and the American Legion Sykesville Memorial Post 223.
Jim is survived by four children, Lisa (Fred) Wonderling of Punxsutawney, Donald Uplinger of Falls Creek, Laurie S. (James) Miller of Punxsutawney, and James R (Angela) Uplinger of Cranberry Township, PA; Grandchildren, Chris Uplinger, Kayla Miller, Sonya Miller, Cal Richter, Anna Richter, Regan Uplinger, Dean Uplinger, Lorinda Baum, Donovan Uplinger, Johnny Uplinger, David Cunningham, Jason Cunningham, Amy Wonderling and Martin Wonderling; fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Laura and son, Guy Uplinger.
Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2023, and from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Jim Lantz.
Interment will follow at Reynoldsville Cemetery.
