VILLE PLATTE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James Michael Vidrine beginning at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte, La.  Father Tom Voorhies will preside over the service as the celebrant.  Interment will be conducted at MB Fontenot Cemetery.

James Michael Vidrine, known to his beloved family and friends as Mike, passed away on November 22, 2023, in his hometown of Ville Platte, Louisiana. Born on October 17, 1946, in the same close-knit community he called home, Mike leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and unwavering love.

Mike was a man of many talents and passions. Throughout his life, he pursued his career as a diesel mechanic with dedication and expertise. He poured his heart into every engine he fixed except his wife’s, ensuring that vehicles would run smoothly and reliably for their owners. Additionally, Mike found joy in farming cattle and cultivating hay. He took pride in caring for these animals and nurturing the land that sustained them.

But beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike's true happiness stemmed from the time he spent with his cherished wife of 48 years, Charlotte Perrodin Vidrine. Their love was steadfast and enduring—a partnership built on trust, support, and genuine affection. Together, they weathered life's ups and downs with unwavering grace.

Family meant everything to Mike. Every moment spent with loved ones brought him immeasurable joy. Whether it was gathering around the dinner table for a hearty meal or embarking on adventures together on the farm, he relished their company. His warmth and welcoming nature created an atmosphere of love that enveloped all who knew him.

Mike's commitment to serving others extended beyond his immediate circle of family and friends. He demonstrated this through his military service as a veteran in the United States National Guard Army. His dedication and loyalty to his country were a testament to his noble character.

In his leisure time, Mike found solace in pursuing various hobbies and interests. He had a strong affinity for mechanics—a passion that seamlessly blended into both his personal and professional life. The satisfaction of fixing an engine or tinkering with machinery brought him a sense of fulfillment. Additionally, he wholeheartedly embraced the farming lifestyle, caring for his cattle and tending to the land with utmost care and diligence. Mike also enjoyed the peacefulness that came with hunting, finding solace in the tranquility of nature.

Today, as we bid farewell to Mike, let us remember him as a man who lived life to the fullest—a man who loved deeply and worked tirelessly. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts as we carry forward his values of hard work, devotion, and cherishing our loved ones.

Mike leaves behind his devoted wife, Charlotte Perrodin Vidrine of Ville Platte; two siblings, his sister Ollie Rae Vidrine Brown (Homer) of Central, LA and brother, Carol Vidrine (Lou Vidrine) of Ville Platte; his children, Melissa Vidrine of Eunice, James Brock Vidrine of Ville Platte, Jennifer Brook Vidrine and Fiancé Billy Bohart of Grand Prairie, Dustin Vidrine and wife Kristie Vidrine of Ville Platte, Kim Vidrine and wife Jessika Vidrine of Ville Platte; grandchildren, Regan Vidrine Frusha and husband Matthew Frusha, Tristan Bourque and wife Chelsea Bourque, Peyton Clark and husband Ty Clark, Wesley Vidrine, Tucker Bourque, Tristan Evans, Samantha Vidrine, Chloe Childers, Caydance Childres, and Ann Kathryn Vidrine; three great-grandchildren, Ollie-Rae Frusha, Oaklyn Renee Clark, and Matthew Hardy Frusha.
