James Daub Wallner, 91, of Marquette, Iowa passed away Monday, July 14, 2025 at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Jim was born to Edward Peter Wallner and Wilhelmina Sarah (Daub) Wallner in Chicago Illinois. He was baptized in St. Michael Catholic Church, received elementary schooling at that parish and then graduated June 1951 from Chicago's Lane Tech High School's art department to help prepare for his career as graphic designer,
On December 6, 1968, after a lengthy courtship, Jim married Barbara Ann Jones in Chicago's city hall. The childless marriage ended in divorce within one year.
After retiring in 1980 Jim left Chicago to establish residence in Twin Lakes Wisconsin where he had enjoyed a vacation home for many years. In Twin Lakes, a small resort town sixty miles north of Chicago, as managing partner of Seawis Properties formed with his brother Ed for the project, he secured the first (1981) condominium declaration in Kenosha County. Reluctantly, that landmark declaration was sold along with the popular Shore Gardens Resort property on Lake Mary to another investor for further development.
In September of 1999, with happy memories of many lifelong tourist visits to Prairie du Chien, Marquette and McGregor, Jim relocated to Marquette, Iowa. His collection of vintage and more recent snapshots are being donated to the local museums.
James was preceded in death by parents; Edward and Wilhelmina; and brothers; Edward and Donald. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation or service planned per James request.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor, Iowa is assisting with arrangements.

Fond memories of Uncle Jim, visiting him at his home in Twin Lakes and even on a trip out to Arizona with my Dad to visit him. He was always quick in correspondence back to us and appreciated nature, car top down, a long ride and some whiskey:) I wish we had gotten to see him more recently, rest well and with love. Joan
