James Russell Walton, 85, of Beckley WV, while surrounded by his loving family began his “Next Adventure” on Sept 29, 2023
Born August 1, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio. He followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a journeyman Pipeline Welder. He was a very proud and dedicated member of the Pipeliners Union 798 out of Tulsa, OK, for 64 years. During his work tenure, he traveled throughout the United States and overseas, including the Alaskan Pipeline. His lifestyle from a young age was riding motorcycles, being an avid pool player with his cue stick, “SusieCue”, and working on the Pipeline. He enjoyed watching football and Nascar racing. He was a wild and free man enjoying life.
James is survived by children: Terry Smith (Bob), Debra Walton (Jim), Russell Walton, John Snuffer (Sherry), Mary" Jane" Langston (Kieth), Pamela "Jeannie" Davis, Dean Snuffer, and Rick Snuffer (Min);11 Grandchildren; 26 Great grandchildren and 3 Great great-grandchildren and his brother in-law Herb Herndon, whom he had many “wild times” with.
He was preceded in death in 2017 by his wife of 45 years, Noel (Horton-Snuffer), and his first wife Carol Ives-Casey in 2019, who he reconnected with after the loss of his loving wife Noel, his parents Joseph and Margaret (Mooney) Walton, and his sister Joyce Herndon.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2023 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Horton Family Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in memory of James be made to Pipeliners Voluntary Fund Scholarship, PO Box 470798, Tulsa, OK 74147. Please include your mailing adress when sending donations.
