Peyton Ty Pettry, 21, of Arnett passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV., with his loving family by his side.
Born October 18, 2004 in Beckley, WV he was the son of Marti and Holly Paugh Pettry.
Peyton was a proud 2023 graduate from Liberty High School where he exceled in football and wrestling. Peyton was top of his class as he was graduated as class President focusing on his studies he achieved a full academic scholarship to West Virginia University. He was on pace to graduate from West Virginia University in December as a Chemistry major honors student.He was a very bright ambitious young man. In his leisure he enjoyed playing video games, spending time with his friends, and traveling as he was in the Dental club that traveled to Panama for a Dental Bigrade to help people as he was going to become a Dentist. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. To know Peyton was to love him as he inspired so many people. Peyton was so caring and compassionate that he donated his organs hoping it may save other lives.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Clarence Pettry.
Those left to cherish his wonderful memory include his mother, Holly Pettry; father, Marti; sister, Morgan Pettry Vance (Anthony); brother, Damon Hopkins; grandparents, Julia Pettry, Connie Bailey (Nick), and Ralph Paugh; aunts and uncles, Jenny Green (Pete), Angie Moore (Jared), Brad Paugh (Wretha), Rebecca Duncan (Les), and Leah Baisden (Justin); cousins, Jordan, Tristian, Jakob, Rhyan, Bailey, Brooke, Rachael, Nathan, and Bethany; niece, Avery Vance; group of friends called the men, Wyatt Dickens, Kye Calloway, Isaac Wyatt, Jalen Cook, Devin Price, and Daniel Lilly; and college roommates, Cash McCall and Zion McComas.
