James A. Wanamaker, 77, of Watertown, NY, passed away on September 27, 2025, at Samaritan Medical Center.

He was born on May 10, 1948, in Watertown. James attended Watertown High School before enlisting in the United States Army on October 11, 1966. A proud veteran, he volunteered for two tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on October 10, 1969. Following active duty, he continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves.

In addition to his military service, James worked for many years as a mail carrier with the Watertown Post Office. He also enjoyed working part-time at Stratton's Hardware.

On October 10, 1970, he married Kristine Marie Trainham at Holy Family Church. the couple made their home in Watertown and later retired to Lake Wales, Florida.

James enjoyed golfing, hunting, woodworking, and remodeling his home. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.

Surviving are his two daughters, Jennifer L. Wanamaker of Watertown and Amy M. Wanamaker of Boston; two granddaughters, Zoe (Jared) Salisbury and Mya Rain Smith; and three great grandsons, Dexlan, Ryker, and Killian Salisbury. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 50 years Kristine on March 21, 2024; his brother John Wanamaker, his sister Beatrice May Keithley and sister Carol Ann Johnson.

Arrangements are with Hart & Bruce Funeral Home. In keeping with James's wishes, there will be no services at this time.
