James Ward Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jansen Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Feb. 25, 2026.
James Everett Ward, known affectionately as Jim by his loved ones, was a man whose life was marked by a spirited sense of adventure, a handy knack for fixing just about anything, and a heart filled with unwavering faith. Born on December 30, 1936, Jim's journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on February 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Jim's early years were shaped by the love and guidance of his parents, Elias and Bernice. Though they, along with his beloved wife Sara, daughter Michelle, girlfriend Marcelline Marie Bashor, and siblings Mary, Libby, Fred, Carl, Kevin, John, Clarence, and Lonnie, preceded him in death, their influence on his life was indelible. Jim's legacy continues through his devoted sons, Gary (Terry) Ward, Douglas (Kayla) Ward, brother Damon (Pam) Ward, his cherished grandchildren, and the numerous nieces and nephews who looked up to him.

For many years, Jim dedicated his skills and labor to General Motors, retiring in 1986.

Jim's interests were as varied as they were joyful. He was a master of the bowling lanes, a regular at the bingo hall, and a shrewd player of Keno. These pastimes brought him much joy and provided countless opportunities for laughter and camaraderie with friends and family.

To describe Jim as adventurous, handy, and spirited only scratches the surface of a man whose zest for life was contagious. Whether he was embarking on an impromptu road trip, repairing a broken appliance for a neighbor, or lifting spirits with his infectious laughter, Jim embraced every moment with enthusiasm and grace.

Jim will be laid to rest at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, with a memorial gathering held sometime this summer. Arrangements entrusted Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville. Memorial contributions in memory of Jim may be made to the Ward Family. Share condolences, pictures, and stories with the family online at www.jansenfuneralhome.com.
