James Lee (Jim) Warren left this world on September 1, 2024 at the age of 80. Jim passed exactly where
he wished – in the familiar surroundings of his home of 52 years. He was born May 19, 1944 two miles
west of Ralston, Oklahoma, the only son to Dee and Annabelle (Quillen) Warren.
Jim attended Ralston schools. After school, he joined a custom harvesting crew and worked as a laborer at the local cotton gin and a refuse worker in Ponca City.
On June 21, 1966, he was married to Lynda Gail Harris at a small ceremony in Fairfax, Oklahoma. Their married life took them to Derby, Kansas in 1968. Their union was blessed with two children: James Dee and Stacie Lynne.
In 1968, Jim began a career as a sheer operator at Cessna Aircraft Company and was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists. He retired from Cessna in 2005 after 37 years of faithful service.
His hobbies included breeding, showing, and judging red factor and border canaries, playing pool, and traveling. His canary hobby, took him across the U.S. to shows where he won countless awards for the birds he raised, eventually earning the privilege to judge the birds of his peers. His pool playing skills won him several trips to Las Vegas to compete in national tournaments.
His greatest love in retirement was being Pop to his four grandchildren: Mackenzie Winslow of New York, JD Warren (Bree} of Mission, Kansas, Maya Winslow of New York, and Kaylee Warren of Grapevine, Texas. He was also a loyal patron of the Rock Road Village Inn, where he considered the staff his extended family.
Jim was preceded in death by Lynda, his bride of 50 years, his parents, Dee and Annabelle, his sisters Deanna Riley and Mildred Dilbeck, brother-in-law John Riley, and nine great aunts and uncles that held a very special place in his heart.
He is survived by his children Dee Warren (Kim) of Salina, Kansas, Stacie Winslow (Bryant) of Highlands
Ranch, Colorado, four grandchildren, brother-in-law Robert Dilbeck of Mesa, Arizona, brother-in-law
Mickey Harris (Francine) of Temple, Oklahoma, seven nieces and nephews, countless beloved cousins,
and his four-legged friend, Milo.
Jim's family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 5 at Smith Mortuary in Derby, KS.
Graveside services and internment will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 6 at Riverside Cemetery in
Ralston, Oklahoma.
The family encourages memorials in Jim's name to Marlee's Smile, I AM ALS, or your local animal
shelter.

One of my favorite customers at the Derby Walmart! He always had chocolate hershey kisses for me (and others). Bless his heart may he rest in peace. Prayers for comfort for his family and friends
