COOLVILLE—James E. Watson, 73, of Coolville, OH, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 13, 1950, in Pomeroy, OH, son of Donna Halsey Watson Brooks and the late Everett Lloyd Watson. James was an SP 4 with the U.S. Army, a 1969 graduate of Eastern High School and one of the founding members of the Tuppers Plains Fire Department. He was the Director of the Meigs County Fair, serving 14 years followed by 16 years of voluntary service. James served as an Orange Township Trustee for 8 years and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Including his mother, Donna Halsey Watson Brooks, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Deborah Joan Heaton Watson; son, Chandler (Carrie) Watson; grandchildren, Wyatt (Ashley) Watson, Brady (Hannah) Watson, Tyson Long, Brittany (Brady) Long, Ashley (Donald) Long; great-grandson, Boyd Kinzel; 2 brothers, Tom (Cassie) Watson and Ray (Vicki) Watson; 3 sisters-in-law, Susan Bauer, Helen Heaton and Janet (David) Heaton.
In addition to his father, Everett Lloyd Watson, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Reta and David Lewis; 2 brothers-in-law, James W. Heaton and Bob Bauer; mother-in-law, Helen Heaton and father-in-law, James Heaton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, May 24, 2024, at White Funeral Home in Coolville, OH, with Roger Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Tuppers Plains Christian Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5-7 P.M.
