James was born on October 21, 1947 in Beaver Dam to Verlin and Mildred Wegner. He was a graduate of Horicon High School. Jim and Barb were married on October 16, 1971, in Horicon. He retired from the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections and in his retirement, he served as the Horicon Municipal Court Judge for 15 years.
Jim enjoyed his time as a musician with the Ron Harvey Band and Jan Garber Orchestra. Jim and Barb enjoyed spending time up north at the cabin where they enjoyed snowmobiling. Jim loved being a dad and grandpa and watching his children and grandchildren doing various activities, especially those with music.
Jim is survived by his two sons: Josh (Mollie) Wegner of Beaver Dam and Brad (Melissa) Wegner of Verona; two grandsons: Caleb and Isaac; lifelong friend, Charlie Shaus, who spent every night with him over for the last year of Jims life, as well as other relatives and friends.
Per Jim's request no formal services will be held but friends and family are welcome to gather at Cress Funeral and Cremation Service - Sun Prairie 1310 Emerald Terrace on Sunday, October 5th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
