James B. Weir age 100 joined his wife for coffee with Jesus in heaven Sunday, February 8, 2026. Jim was born in Flint Michigan March 27, 1925 to Robert and Thirza Weir. He graduated from Owosso High School. Jim joined the Navy, attending Western Michigan College and then Columbia University for officer's training before deployment to China.

Jim met his soon to be wife Donna at Western Michigan College. They were married September 6, 1947. Together Jim and Donna raised their 12 children in Lennon Michigan. They were members of St. Mary Catholic Church in Durand for 75 years. They were married three weeks shy of 76 years when Donna passed away August 11, 2023.

Jim's careers included sales, self-employed excavator, and retiring in 1990 from Durand Area Schools as a custodian. He was the last surviving fireman of the original Lennon Volunteer Fire Department. He worked on the DVA (Durand Vernon Ambulance) for years. After retirement they wintered in Florida for 30 years. There they enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels and at Hibiscus House Mission Store in Stuart. They also enjoyed playing card games and bingo and met many friends. Special friends Kathy and Gary Lightfoot became like their "adoptive children" in Florida. In 2022 Jim and Donna moved to Woodhaven Senior Living community. They quickly found many new friends that became family, both staff and residents alike.

Jim was very proud of the large family he and Donna raised. They felt abundantly blessed by the love that surrounded them.

Jim joins Donna, son Chuck, daughter Connie, grandson Dane, his parents, and brother Neil in heaven. Surviving are six sons: Tom (Sue) of Houghton Lake, MI, Dan (Janice) of Vineland NJ, Steve (Wanda) of Zealand MI, Bob (Pat) of Lennon, MI, Ron of Avoca, MI and Joe (Robin) of Durand, MI. 4 Daughters: Mary Burnell of Venice, FL, Lori Grumley of Lennon,Mi, Beth (Chuck) Root of Haslett, MI, Cindy (Jeff) Heffernan of Grand Rapids, MI., He was blessed with 27 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 700 E. Columbia Dr. Durand, burial will follow in Yerian Cemetery. The Weir family will greet friends at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 501 N. Saginaw St. Durand, on Thursday from 2:00pm-8:00pm, the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary Food Pantry.

I remember Jim & Donna we would see each other at mass.
Wonderful man Wonderful family
Hi Tom sorry for your loss.
My Tom died in 2023 after 65 years.

I´ve been so honored to get to know Jim and his wife, Donna (before passing). I´m going to treasure all the memories I have of Jim (and Donna). Enjoy heaven and give Donna a hug from me. You are going to be surely missed.

What a happy wonderful man. Such a good memory. Last yr. Woodhaven to all to go visit his home & property. Such a beautiful place & wonderful family. He will be missed!! for sure!!
