It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Eddie Wells, affectionately known as Jim, who departed this world peacefully on February 10, 2026, at his cherished home in Willard, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on July 11, 1955, in Ogden, Jim was a remarkable soul whose gentle spirit and unwavering love for family left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Jim’s journey through life was one of dedication and hard work. He began his career with GSL and later worked at the family business, Juice Products. His involvement in the city of North Ogden culminated in his retirement as the sewer district manager, a role he approached with humor and humility, despite its reputation as “the shittiest job in town.”

A proud alumnus of Bonneville High School, Jim was a force on the field. He helped lead his football team’s 1974 regional championship title. He also showcased his athleticism through wrestling and running track, with a brave stint as a bull rider that brought an adventurous thrill to his youthful years.

Jim was a giant teddy bear in every sense, his presence calming and reassuring to those fortunate enough to be close to him. He thrived in the great outdoors, whether fishing, ATV riding, horseback riding, camping, or boating, often retreating to East Canyon (with our dog Hank that everyone loved so much) making cherished memories with lifelong friends. He had a playful side too, often engaging in quiet jokes to see what he could get away with, reminding us all of the gift of laughter and the importance of a good sense of humor.

Faith was an integral part of Jim’s life as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Janet were married on June 17, 1977, in Riverdale, Utah, and were later sealed for time and eternity in the Bountiful Temple on November 20, 1999. His commitment to service was evident in his role as a counselor in the bishopric and his work with the Young Men, where he instilled values of hard work and dedication. His influence as a mentor and guide to the youth extended beyond the walls of the church, a testament to his generous heart.

Above all, Jim cherished his family, considering them his greatest accomplishment. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Janet; two loving daughters, Jamie (Brett) Johnston and Nichole (Andrew IV) Cater; and treasured grandchildren, Haegen, Peyton, Diesel, Collins, and Andrew V, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his two siblings, Craig (Pam) Wells and Michelle (Richard) Sawyer; in-laws, Robert (Connie deceased) Jensen, Brent and Mary Ann Stauffer, Betty (Wayne deceased) Wilson,

Jim’s legacy is enriched by the love he received from his parents, Eddie R. and Janet; sisters, Laurie (Larry) Maccarthy and twin, Julie Toone, who have passed before him; along with his parents-in-law, Leonard and Thelma Oberbroekling; and in-laws, Jack and Linda Jensen. Their spirits will join him now, as he embarks on this next great adventure.

As we remember Jim, let us take solace in the love he shared, the lessons he imparted, and the gentle nature that touched so many lives. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.

Rest in peace, dear Jim; your legacy of love, laughter, and the outdoors will continue to inspire all who knew you.
