James Stephen "Hooch" White, 76, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, entered into rest on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at his home.

He was born August 14, 1948, in White Sulphur Springs, WV, a son of the late James Myles White and Gladys Virginia Coffey White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert L. "Bob" White.

Hooch devoted his life to serving the White Sulphur Springs community through his work with White Sulphur Springs Emergency Services, where he served with distinction as both a fireman and EMS member. A faithful attendee of Alvon Living Word Church, Hooch also treasured his moments on the golf course, where his passion for the sport flourished as a member of Valley View Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Linda C. White, of White Sulphur Springs, WV; his son Travis White of Maryland; three grandchildren, Josh (Nikki) White of Lewisburg, WV, Caitlin (Landon) Soto of Peterstown, WV, and Shavis White of Chicago, IL; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandy Kay (Lee) Bragg, of White Sulphur Springs, WV; and several nieces and nephews, including Thomas (Autumn) Hayes of Frankford, WV, and Jessica White of White Sulphur Springs, WV.

A family organized celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Alvon Living Word Church with Pastor Bobby McClintic officiating.

The family asks that memorial contributions in Mr. White's name to be made to; White Sulpher Springs Fire Department, P.O Box 129, White Sulpher Springs, 24988.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

Arrangements are under the care of Arritt Funeral Home.
