Mr. James Henry Whitley, 94 of Horton, Alabama, was born on June 2, 1931, to Henry Grady and Mavis Gunter Whitley and passed away on September 2, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Johnny Whitley.

Henry graduated from Susan Moore High School in 1950. He grew up and worshiped at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church where he met and married the love of his life, Sidney Jane Eller. He was a devoted family man that supported his church, community and family his entire life. Farming was his chosen way of life and he produced all commodities in his career. A few of his leadership roles include, Chairman of the Board of Stewards at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, Red Angus Association of America Board of Directors, Federal Land Bank Board of Directors, Blount County Farmers Federation Board of Directors, Blount County Cattlemen Association Board of Directors, and Soil Conservation Service Committee. Mr. Whitley had a kind heart and soul and will truly be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Mr. Whitley is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Jane Whitley; his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Kathy Whitley; his son, Timothy Whitley; his grandson and spouse, James Ray and Natalie Whitley; his great grandchildren, Jackson Henry Whitley, Rayna Whitley, and Max Whitley; and his sister-in-law, Rebecca Whitley.

David Poole will conduct the Funeral Service on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends, at the Church, on Saturday beginning at 9:30 AM. Snead Funeral Home Directing.

Ray Blackmon, Greg Brown, Huie Conway, Jackson Whitley, Max Whitley, Pat Whitley, and Wesley Whitley have been asked to serve as Pallbearers with the Blount County Farmers Federation Board of Directors as Honorary Pallbearers.
