Jim "Poppa" Wilson departed this earth surrounded by friends and family on Thursday, November 20, 2025, one week prior to his 81st birthday. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a retired and valued member of the Knoxville Police Department (FOP) and a veteran who served our country from 12/06/1968 to 9/14/1971 as a Green Beret. He was also a Golden Gloves boxing Champion. He was most proud of his wife, children, grandchildren and his service to his country.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Gertrude (Stair) Wilson, sister Barbara Wilson. He left behind wife Sherry Seay Wilson, children John Wilson (Kelly), Sunni Wilson (Keith), Kylie Seay Metler, grandchildren Ty Wilson, Sydnie Seay-Whitener, Kasen Atkins, Harper Atkins, Kambri Wilson, Afton Wilson, Garner Wilson, Merritt Wilson, great grandson Kyas Kirby.
Jim was a friend to many from a young boy in elementary school to college, career and beyond. We cannot thank "The Romeos" enough for the love and support you have shown him and his family during this unexpected journey.
He will always be remembered as a big ole cry baby, avid reader and extravagant story-teller.

Receiving of friends at Stevens Mortuary Sunday 11/30/2025 4-6 pm
Procession with KPD escort to meet at Stevens 12/1/2025 at 1 pm followed by full military honors at the VA cemetery on John Sevier Highway 2 pm.
