James Woods Obituary

James Bernard Woods

June 7, 1931 - February 17, 2024

James Bernard Woods (better known as Woody or Jim) died on February 17, 2024 at the age of 92, in Scottsdale, AZ. He was born on June 7, 1931, in Delaware County, IN, to Rena Faye (Golliher) and Oscar Woods. He had one sister, Mary Coffman.

Woody grew up in Muncie, IN, and graduated from Royerton High School in 1949. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean War. While stationed in Yuma, AZ, he met Anna Martin, and they married on March 20, 1954. They had one child, Janet. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he remained in Yuma and was employed for 36 years by the American Linen Company.

Woody loved to hunt deer and elk up in Montana. So when Anna retired, they moved to McAllister, MT, where they lived for the next 20 years. Their winters were spent in McKinney, TX, and later in Scottsdale, AZ, visiting their daughter's family and cheering on their granddaughters from the soccer sidelines. In his later years, he and Anna relocated first to Show Low, AZ, and then finally to Scottsdale.

Woody is survived by his beloved wife Anna, of nearly 70 years; his daughter, Janet Baughman; his son-in-law Doug Baughman; and two granddaughters, Jaclyn and Kaitlyn Baughman. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Lewis Montgomery; three nieces, and many grand nieces and nephews, who all played an important role in his life.

He is predeceased by his parents, Rena Faye and Oscar Woods; his sister, Mary Coffman; and his sister-in-law, Florine Montgomery.

Services will be held at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Scottsdale, AZ, on February 26, 2024 at 11:00 am. Private interment will follow that afternoon.

Our deepest condolences to the Woods family.

I worked with Mr. Woods during my years of service at the Yuma American Linen plant on Gila Street as the plant maintenance engineer.

Mr. Woods was a model of professionalism and attention to customer service.

He knew a lot about the linen business and shared his knowledge and vast experience with his colleagues.

Respectfully
Samuel Colton Sr
