James Worth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holloway Funeral Home - Pocomoke City on Jan. 20, 2026.
James "Jim" Edward Worth, 80, passed away at his home on January 16, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 10, 1945 in Crisfield, MD to William O. and Nellie G. Worth.

He graduated from Washington High School, Class of 1963, after which he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS America. In 1971 he began his long career as a truck driver with Holly Farms/Tyson Foods, Temperanceville, VA until his retirement in 2010. After his retirement he drove several years for Watson Powell Trucking, Newark, MD.

Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon, his son James Darrell Worth of Pocomoke, his daughter Tracy Lynn Wright (Chris) of Wallops Island VA, his grandchildren Laina Michelle Williams of Knoxville TN, Collin James Wright and Casey Lynn Wright of Wallops Island, VA., his sister Sherri Sigrist (Jimmy) of Salisbury, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Baylee. Jim was preceded in death by his Dad, William O (Bill) Worth, his mother Nellie G (Miss Nellie) Worth, his brothers William H (Billy) and Gerald W (Jerry) Worth.

Jim loved to travel with his family, taking his young children and often their friends to many NASCAR races, ski trips and places of interest throughout the states. Jim also enjoyed trail riding and showing Appaloosa horses and won many trophies with his prized trail horse "Sundown Two". In later years he enjoyed traveling with his grandchildren on many fun adventures throughout the states also. He also loved traveling with his wife, beloved dog, Cher and close friends throughout the states in his RV. At home, he always made it a priority to attend his grandchildren's athletic events, whether it was a soccer, basketball or volleyball game they were participating in, he was there on the sidelines cheering them on. He was a member of Beaver Dam church choir and enjoyed singing and listening to gospel and country music.

Many, many thanks to his caregivers Barbara Hickman, Peggy Bradley, our "Hospice Angel" Amy and the Hospice nurse Victoria. They cared for Jim with compassion, concern and love throughout his illness.

Services will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 24 at Salem Church, 500 Second St., Pocomoke City, MD with visitation at 11:00am. A luncheon will follow immediately after service in the church social hall.
