James Carlton Wright, age 71, of Brodnax, VA, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving Hope Wright and Sallie Moseley Wright; his wife of 36 years, Linda Eaton Wright; and siblings, Ruth Wall, Carolyn Clary, Joyce Edwards, Shelton Wright, Frank Wright, and Edward Wright.
Carlton joined Ebony Volunteer Fire Department in 1975 and remained active until his death. He was a lifetime member of Old Store Hunt Club and was a loyal fan and crew member of the #11 Cody Wright Racing Team. He will be remembered most as a faithful member of the community who was always willing to help his neighbors.
He is survived by a sister, Sarah Wright; his children, Kevin Wright (Melanie), Bryan Wright (Magen), Michelle Vick (David), and Angela Evans,; grandchildren, Taylor Evans (Kayla), Savannah Evans, Amanda Evans, Brycen Vick (Taylor), Blake Vick, Cody Wright (Miranda), Nick Wright, and Colton Wright; great-grandchildren, Ava Comly, Adalynn Writtenberry, Amran Chittum, Aston Evans, Mattison Thomas, Jaelyn Thomas, Logan Thomas, and two great-grandsons soon to be born, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA, followed by interment at the Wright Family Cemetery in Gasburg, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
