James Zane Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Saul Colonial Home on Jan. 22, 2026.
James I. Zane, Jr., 80, of Bordentown, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Brookdale of Hamilton in Hamilton, NJ with his friends and family by his side.

Jim Zane was a family man in every sense of the word. Because of his big heart, his family was vast and far-reaching. His closest family, of course, were those related by blood and marriage, but Jim believed family extended far beyond that.

His family included his drag racing family, built over 40 years of bonding with fellow racing enthusiasts; his school family from Salem, New Jersey; his work families at Ingersoll Rand and Lakehurst Naval Air Station; his Air Force family, both in the United States and Germany; and his car cruise family-where he loved and appreciated every make, model, and year on display.

Jim treated every person he met as if they were special, because to him, they truly were.

Jim Zane is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna Troiano and 7 nieces and nephews and their families, Joy Haney (Josh) of Bradford, PA, Karen Schaller (Emil) of Johns Island, SC, Isaac Zane (Patti) of Conway, SC, Lee Zane (Marie) of Pittsgrove, NJ, Linda Ludewig of Elmer, NJ, Rob Crim (Amy) of Elmer, NJ, and Eileen Miller (David) of Woodstown, NJ. Jim is predeceased by his nephew, Tom Crim (Donna).

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.

Jim will then return to his roots in South Jersey and there will be a visitation held at Adams Funeral Home, 111. S. Main Street, Elmer, NJ 08318 on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral Services and time for family and friends to share remembrances to follow at 12:00 p.m.

Interment will follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Elmer, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim's memory to a charitable cause of the Donor's choice.
