James Lowell Zaugg

James Lowell Zaugg of Pleasant Hill, Iowa passed away on February 26, 2022. A visitation will be held 5- 7 pm Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will then be held at 11 am Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Faith Lutheran Church in Clive with a visitation time beginning one hour prior. Burial will take place at 11 am Friday, March 4, 2022, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel.
He was born on October 8, 1945, to Oscar and Frances (Marti) Zaugg. He was the oldest of 5 children and grew up on a farm near West Bend, Iowa. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1963. On April 8, 1967, he married the love of his life Barbara Greinert. They were blessed with 3 children Kim, Neil, and Kevin (Jennifer) and 3 granddaughters Ava, Fay, and Lily. After high school, he worked construction in the summer while going to Universal Trade School in Omaha, NE. He graduated with a degree in air conditioning and heating. He then attended Northwestern College in Orange City, IA. He entered the US Army in November 1965. He went on to assemble and launch Nike Hercules Missiles. He was stationed in California and Germany. In 1969 he went to work for Freeman Decorating in Des Moines, IA. There he was a carpenter for 4 years, shop foreman for 1 year, Production Manager for 8 years, and General Manager for 22 years. He was responsible for Freeman Exhibit Company, Des Moines, Freeman Decorating Company, Omaha, NE, and Freeman Decorating Des Moines, IA.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Oscar & Frances Zaugg. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 54 years, his children, Kim, Neil, Kevin (Jennifer), his granddaughters, Ava, Fay, and Lily, his brothers, sister, and many nephews and nieces.
