James A. Zerfing, 86, of South Williamsport, passed away peacefully at home, October 18, 2025, while surrounded by family.

Jim was born in Dauphin County on August 13, 1939, a son of Mark S. and Elmina (Matter) Zerfing.

A designer by career and in his heart, had been employed by the former English's Model Railroad as a designer at the start of his career and after retirement from Textron. While at Textron, he held many titles, he was a draftsman, tool designer and worked on plant layout.

In his personal life he was also a talented designer, he designed their home, he was well known as an area clock maker and repaired clocks. He was instrumental in getting the local National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors # 193 started. Jim had been taking care of the Trinity Episcopal Church Clock for over fifty years and the association members continue to care for the clock.

Jim was a collector and restorer of antique cars, he had restored two cars that were equipped with Lycoming engines. He was also a talented woodworker, making fine furniture and clocks, making corner cabinets, tables, many of them inlaid using a marquetry technique.

Surviving are his wife, the former Andrea J. Amoroso, they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on March 13, 2025. In addition, he is survived by four children; Helen (Richard) Waldrop of Ala., Mark Zerfing of Hawaii, Marie Zerfing and Angela (Eric) Goods both of Pa; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and his brother Karl Zerfing of South Williamsport.

At Jim's request there will be no services, he will be buried at Resurrection Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2595 Interstate Dr.,Ste 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or www.alz.org
