George Lins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. on Feb. 16, 2026.
George Herbert Lins ("Pop"), 96, formerly of DuBoistown, PA passed away peacefully at CaroMont Medical Center in Gastonia, NC on February 9, 2026.

George was born in Williamsport, PA on May 12, 1929, the son of the late George Howard Lins and Myrtle Ruth (Machette) Lins.

George was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War Era who served from February 1952 until February 1954 with the 4th Recon Co, 4th Infantry Division where he was deployed in Frankfurt, Germany. Before and after being drafted, he was employed as an upholsterer by the former Schnadig Corporation in Montoursville, PA from which he retired in 1994. George was also a self-employed furniture re-upholsterer.

A firm believer in his Roman Catholic faith, George was a member of Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in South Williamsport, PA prior to moving to Winchester, VA where he was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish while living with his son and daughter-in-law. Most recently, they moved to Belmont, NC where he became a member of Queen of the Apostles Church. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 366 in Pennsylvania. Pop continued his support of the Knights of Columbus in Virginia by soliciting donations to assist the intellectually disabled and enjoyed volunteering at the Monsignor Krempa Soup Kitchen assisting in the delivery of food to those in need.

George always had a large vegetable garden and enjoyed reading, watching sports and building scale model airplanes and ships, with every detail perfect, down to the last stitch on the sails. He was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.

George and his wife, Patricia Ann (Tacka) Lins, were married on July 1, 1950; they celebrated 62 years together until her death on November 21, 2012. In addition, two sisters, Katherine Frey and Bernadine Weigle, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his son, Michael J. Lins and his wife, Becky, of Belmont, NC; his daughter, Teresa A. Pfirman of DuBoistown, PA and her companion, Shawn Renninger of Montoursville, PA; grandsons, both living in Charlotte, NC: Joseph Lins (and Daniella Sniffen) and Andrew Lins, his wife, Sara and their daughter, his great-granddaughter, Emma Lins; and sister-in-law, Mary Lee Eck of DuBoistown, PA.

Family and friends will be received at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Friday at 11 a.m. with burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Montoursville.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests that memorial donations in George's name may be made to Saint Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509 (Adopted Children's Program).
