On the evening of June 22, 2024, Jameson MacBeth peacefully passed from post-surgery complications at University Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he had been surrounded by family and friends and the many messages of abundant love for him around the clock for the two weeks he was in the care of the ICU.
Jameson has been reunited with his daughter, Faólan Brace (9/25/1999-1/28/2002) and is survived by two sons, Derry, 22, and Kieran, 20. He is also survived by his mother, Lorraine MacBeth and his brother Sean Day.
Jameson was born in Detroit Michigan, and spent many of his early years in Detroit and along the East Side and although his zip code may have changed, he remained a Detroiter at heart. From a young age, and throughout all his years, music, laughter and people were his lifeblood. In his younger years, he helped manage one of his best friends' band, Goober and the Peas. He worked at several record stores, and even owned his own, Blitz Records, in Royal Oak MI. From his teen years and beyond, you could find him frequenting theaters, halls, clubs and tiny hole-in-the-wall joints, to see any and every band. It was in one of those joints he met and then married Emily MacBeth, a West Side gal. They straddled a middle ground along the Woodward corridor, first with a starter home in Hazel Park and then to Detroit, where their daughter was born, before heading out to settle in the Lakes Area, where he found that near a lake was where he was meant to be.
Jameson the career man, Jameson the family man. He would say he never dreamed or imagined he would have a life anywhere near the life he did. He proved that doubt right out. One phone call catapulted his career trajectory and overnight he went from a young adult in crumpled khakis to suits in a top floor window office, jet-setting across the globe, the beginning of his career in global logistics.
With certainty, it can be said that this man packed more into his years than most us could dream of. He recognized, and strove to accomplish his best with every opportunity and to make the most of every aspect of his life. When it came to his kids, quality time was not something he had to make time for, for all of the time with his kids was quality time, documented by thousands of pictures. A highlight would be the MINI Takes the States trips he and his boys embarked on every other summer, their Mini Cooper cross-crossing the country throughout all of the lower 48 states and gaining along the way a lifelong "MINI" family.
Many can recall saying or hearing that Jameson was small in stature, but a giant among men. He was quick to lift up others, lend a hand and give words of encouragement. He was a spitfire and a fighter, full of perseverance and grit, for himself and for his people and he truly cared for the well-being of others. Optimism and positivity were his north stars and even in the darkest of days, he made it a point to remind himself to work his way in their direction. Almost never without a grin on his face, he was quick, intelligent, witty, and one of the funniest people you will ever meet. It is for all of these qualities that he will forever be known far and wide, his reach extending to hundreds and hundreds, to nearly every continent across the globe.
If you met him, you were touched by him.
Jameson's Family would be honored to have you share in an afternoon of music and love and laughter with them to celebrate this wondrous life.
