Jamie Marie Lile was born on December 9, 1954, in
Abilene, Texas, to James "Hank" and Mildred Liles. Jamie grew up in Abilene and knew she had met the love of her life, Bob Davis, when he moved to Abilene in 1969 with his family. Their youthful marriage beat the odds and by God's grace, they experienced the joys and pains of life, love and companionship together for 51 years.
After graduating from Abilene Cooper High School, Jamie and Bob set out on what would become a memory filled career with the United States Air Force. While stationed at Dyess AFB, Texas, Bob III was born. Eight years later, Amy Marie came along on a cold winter morning while stationed at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. While Bob was on assignment in
Denton, Texas, Jamie decided to complete her education at the University of North Texas where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. After receiving her teaching certificate, she taught accounting at the high school level in Colorado Springs, CO and
Fort Worth, Texas. In the early 90's, Jamie was looking for a different career path and was selected for the Federal Government Outstanding Scholar program and began training as a Contract Administrator. After training, she served as a Cost Price Analyst assigned to Lockheed-Martin in Fort Worth. She eventually served as a Supervisory Contracting Officer for Region 7, Federal Acquisition Service, General Services Administration (GSA) and remained in that position until her retirement. While serving with GSA she was selected the 2010 Acquisition Professional of the Year.
After her retirement Jamie loved taking cruises to the Caribbean, attending shows in Las Vegas, and visiting various casinos in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. She had a passion for good food and was always on the lookout for the best hamburger and barbecue. Also loved watching old movies, especially if Brad Pitt was in it. Her favorite singer of all time was George Strait and she knew every word to all of his songs.
The light of her life was her grandchildren: Ryan Davis, Lincoln Gabbard, Kennedy Gabbard and Roosevelt (Rosie) Gabbard. When someone in the family had a birthday, especially a grandchild, it was never a one-day affair; it lasted an entire week with various dinners, cookouts, and numerous gifts. Jamie was always natural at caregiving and found joy in caring for her youngest grandchild, Rosie, a few days each week. She loved to attend her grandchildren's games, recitals, and any activity where she could watch them perform. Jamie was more than their grandma, she was their friend, confidante, and role model.
She joins her loving parents in a heavenly reunion, Hank and Mildred, who preceded her in death.
Jamie is survived by her husband and partner in life, Bob; her two children, Amy Marie Gabbard and husband, Craig and Bobby Davis III, as well as her four grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Terri Mason of
Westport, Connecticut.
