Jan dedicated her life to helping others. Throughout her life, she embodied kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others, she touched countless lives through both quiet acts of service and bold acts of care.
Jan had a long career at the Royal Insurance Company in Boston. She received an Insurance Woman of the Year Award as President of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women. Upon retirement in 1995, she formed "The Friends of Neville Manor" at the well-known nursing facility in Cambridge. "The Friends" opened the very first gift shop at the facility, which was a vehicle for raising funds for the residents of Neville Manor.
Her compassion extended well beyond her work. She generously gave her time as a volunteer at an assisted living community, where her presence brought comfort, laughter, and companionship. Her ability to listen and care deeply left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She found great joy in the simple, heartfelt pleasures of life-baking and cooking for those she loved, knitting thoughtful creations by hand, and sharing her talents with warmth and care. She treasured visits to Ogunquit, Maine and
Gloucester, MA, appreciating the scenic beauty, tranquility, and memories made there with family and friends.
