Jan "John" Albert Komdeur

John Komdeur was born the fifth and youngest child of Hendrik and Trientje Komdeur in Hoogkerk, Groningen, The Netherlands in 1944. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager. In 1971 he met and married his wife of 54 years, Eleanor. They went on to have four children.

Pops was an amazing husband and father. He could barter like no other. He instilled a love of music, louder than normal singing, travel, adventure, nature, and dogs into his children. Pops could fix anything. He was loved by everyone who met him and touched many lives throughout his 81 years on earth.

This morning, surrounded by family, Pops went home to Jesus where he was united with his brothers and best friends, Harry and Casey, his parents, and more dogs, mostly named Max, and cats than we can count.

Pops was gentle, he was kind, he loved Jesus, and he loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, and his four children, Gwen (Todd) Boulter, Mark (Amber) Komdeur, Audra (Fernando) Zaragoza, David, six grandchildren, Aiden, Emma, and Owen Zaragoza, Morgan (Lauren), Alex, and Nora Komdeur, and 1.5 great-grandchildren, Gabriel John, and great-grandson due June 2026.

Pops received more than excellent care at Haven Hospice, E.T. York Care Center where he transitioned from his life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the facility can be made here Donate Now – The Haven Foundation – Haven Hospice
