Jan Potter

Jan Potter, 77, of Columbus, OH, passed away unexpectedly on March 28, 2024 at Mt Carmel East Hospital.
She was born on January 27, 1947 to the late Joe and Ida (Askew) Pierce of Massillon, OH.
A member of the Class of 1965 at Washington High School, she retired from the United States Postal Service in 2019. Jan was very generous, especially to family, her home was always open. She was dedicated to her daughter and grandchildren. She was an outgoing person who never met a stranger and enjoyed talking and socializing with others. She spent her later years donating and supporting various charities.
Jan is survived by her loving daughter, Anjanette M. Potter; grandchildren, Justin Potter and Zora (Gary Jackson) Potter; great-grandchildren, Giovanni Jackson and Giana Jackson; brothers, Fletcher (Mary) Pierce, Floyd "Duke" Pierce, and Al (Asrean) Pierce; sister-in-law, Barbara Pierce; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Parnell Traylor, William Pierce, Ed Pierce, and Robert Pierce; and sisters-in-law, Ella Pierce, Barbara Pierce, and Minnie Traylor.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, 6:00 pm-8:00pm at Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon, Ohio.
A Home Going Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, 11:00 am at the Paquelet Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Massillon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a local women's shelter or homeless shelter.
