Jan M. Rozek, age 68, passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2025. A devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Shelby Township, Jan poured her heart into helping others, founding the Kids Closet and sharing her time and talents at the church soup kitchen.
She found solace and joy in nature, especially in the brilliant colors of autumn. Gardening, reading, and tending to her cherished chickens-her "babies"-brought her endless happiness. Above all, she treasured the moments spent baking with her grandchildren, passing down beloved family traditions with each recipe and shared laugh.
Jan's love and kindness will be deeply missed by her children, Chrissy (Eric) Ekaut, Breanne Rozek, and Paul (Angela) Rozek; her grandchildren, Austin, Kaleigh, Ethan, Irelynn and Tony; and her sisters, Faye, Lisa, and Lori. She is reunited in peace with her sister Judy and many dear family members and friends.
To honor Jan's love of nature and animals, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that perennial plants be sent or donations be made in her memory to the Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG).
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at
Mercy Funeral Home, 627 E. 9 Mile Rd, Hazel Park, MI 48030,
with a service at 1 p.m.
Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
