Jana Flowers Humphrey

Jana Flowers Humphrey, age 80, of Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023, at her home. She was married on March 20, 1965, to Cullen Thomas "Tom" Humphrey, until his passing, May 28, 2010. She graduated from York Institute in Jamestown in 1961 and went on to earn an associate degree at Martin Methodist College, 1963. She completed her junior and most of her senior year at UT Knoxville. Jana was involved with many heritage and civic organizations including Home Demonstration/FCE (roughly 50 years), The Capt. W.Y.C. Hannum UDC (21 years), Oak Ridge TSAB (roughly 40 years), Anderson County Fair Board (40+ years), Clinch Bend Chapter NSDAR (16 years), Gen. Henry Knox Chapter Daughters of 1812 (14 years), TN Society Daughters of Colonial Wars (14 years), Cpt. Thomas Carter Colonial Dames of the 17th Century (14 years), Continental Society, TN DIW (16 years), Cordell Hull #10 FOP Auxiliary (20+ years), Order of the Eastern Star. Jana was an avid reader and had lots of hobbies and interests. Wildflower & wildlife photography, crafting, craft shows, collecting toys, attending toy shows, and traveling for over 50 years to battlefields and historical locations are some of the most notable. Her favorite places to visit were Florida and New Orleans.
Jana was preceded in death by husband, Tom Humphrey; parents, Floyd Flowers & Ollie Brooks Flowers; brother, Leon Flowers; brother-in-law, Perry Rains; niece, Pam Rains; and nephew, Dale Flowers. She leaves behind daughter, Niki Beal & husband, Cameron; son, Cullen Thomas Humphrey III & wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Cuylar Preuss, Sam Beal, Hanna Humphrey, and Cullen Thomas Humphrey IV; sisters, Virginia O'Rear and Betty Rains; niece, Debbie Benedito; nephew, David Flowers; and numerous cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends 2-5 pm EST Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge. A graveside farewell will be held 1:30-3:30 pm CST Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Wolf River Cemetery in Pall Mall. Online condolences may be left at weatherfordmortuary.com.
