DESTIN, Fla. - Jane Bateman, 73, of Destin, passed away peacefully at VITAS Healthcare on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025.
Janie's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted partner to her husband, Wally; loving mother to Reed (Kimberly) and Adam (Greyson); and an adoring grandmother to William and Avery. She was a caring sister to brothers Andy, Michael, Bill, Jim, and Greg. Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Art Alvey; and her sister, Rose "Tootie" Mather.
Janie was an avid sports fan and an excellent athlete. She loved attending PGA Tour events, especially if her favorite player, Jordan Speith, was playing. She was a 4.0 USTA tennis player, a regular bowler of 200+ games, an outstanding golfer, and Kentucky Wildcat fan.
Janie's family wishes to express gratitude to the dedicated group of caregivers at Synergy Home Care and the compassionate medical professionals at VITAS Healthcare.
Her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched with kindness, generosity, and sweetness. No visitation or memorial service will be held. However, expressions of sympathy can be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association, Glaucoma Foundation, or a charity of your choosing. Expressions of sympathy and love may be viewed and placed at emeraldcoastfuneralhome.com.
