Jane Margaret Bowler, age 83 of Durand, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening December 14, 2022. Jane was the loving and devoted daughter of Ellis and Isabelle Bowler of Durand and a supportive sister of her big brother Tom Bowler. She was an aunt to Tom's children Michael Bowler, Elizabeth Bond and Jeffrey Bowler.
Jane graduated from Durand High School in 1957 where she earned the DAR Good Citizen award, was a member of the Cappella Choir, the sextet, the all-State choir, the Drama Club and the squad captain of the cheerleaders. Her fellow students described her as the most likely to travel Europe in a Thunderbird! She did travel Europe with her friend Collen. Knowing Jane, I'm sure she rode in a convertible with the top down! She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas College. Started her teaching career in Durand and later moved to Westland, MI where she taught first and second graders for 34 years. She was sought after and apprenticed by her young students and their parents. She later returned to Durand to enjoy her retirement years with her many friends and family in the area and throughout the State of Michigan.
She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Durand. She loved flowers and bright bold colors. She enjoyed telling stories and was a generous and thoughtful gift giver.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 20,2022 at 2:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, located at 700 Columbia Dr Durand, MI 48429. The family will be happy to meet guests one hour before. online condolences may be shared with the family at www.watkinsfuneralhomes.com
