Jane Marie (Volkman) Burch, 55, of Winona, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, surrounded by her two daughters, Jaida and Janessa, as well as family and loved ones.
Jane was born on February 1, 1968, in Winona, Minnesota to Marvin and Doris (Erdmann) Volkman. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Goodview Trinity and lived a life of faith. She attended St. Matthew’s Lutheran School and graduated from Winona Senior High in 1986. She then obtained an associate degree in cosmetology and had a rewarding career at JCPenney's salon. On June 13, 1992, Jane married the love of her life, Jerry Burch. After having two daughters, she found a career as a daycare provider that allowed her to stay home with her two J’s and continue raising children until the day she died. She found great joy in her daycare work, loving and caring for countless children as if they were her own for over 25 years.
She enjoyed spending time on the river and visiting Prairie Island to cherish the memory of her late husband Jerry. She was a woman who embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories and always said yes to vacations to Mexico, Florida, and Up North, as long as it only involved basking in the sun. The arrival of her grandson, Crew Roger, brought a newfound sense of joy and purpose, helping to fill the void left by Jerry's passing.
Known for making everyone feel special, she was easy to talk to and genuinely cared about everyone she came in contact with. There are no words to encompass the way Jane’s life touched so many. Jane's absence leaves a profound void, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were touched by her warmth, kindness, and love.
Jane is survived by her two daughters, Jaida and Janessa, and her cherished grandson, Crew. She is also survived by her mother, Doris Oevering, and siblings Penny (Tom) Mueller, Ann (Larry) Oevering, Suzanne (Ron) Gora, Tom Volkman, Sara (Eric) Falls as well as five step-siblings. Jane leaves behind numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and companion, Bruce Hill.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Burch, her father, Marvin Volkman, her step-father, Lawrence Oevering, and her in-laws, Marjorie and Denver Burch.
