Jane Cox Obituary
Jane Luttrell Cox, age 92, of Monahans passed away Tuesday March 12th, 2024, in Odessa Texas.
Jane was born in Kennedale Texas on January 13th, 1932, to Nolon Otto Luttrell and Emma Thelma Bulin. She was the 3rd born of 5 children and the only girl.
Jane graduated Salutatorian, Class of 1949 from Mansfield High School. She briefly attended Polytechnical University (Fort Worth) before marrying Donald Curtis Cox on May 15th, 1954, in Kennedale Texas. They moved to Monahans Texas and soon after had two children, David Wayne Cox in 1956 and Donna Kay Cox in 1958. Jane was a top tier Homemaker, and very involved in her family's activities. Jane was a self-taught Artist and Pianist, even being the church Pianist at age 14. Jane was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Monahans, Texas. She was actively involved in extensive volunteering at the Monahans Senior Citizen Center and enjoyed helping to deliver Meals on Wheels as well as teaching Arts and Crafts Classes and did the majority of the decorating at the Center and "The Senior Citizen Reviews." Jane was very passionate about, and loved, helping others.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 60+ years Don Cox, her son Wayne Cox, her parents Nolon and Emma Luttrell, her four brothers Adrian Otto Luttrell, Eldon Ray Luttrell, Oscar Donald Luttrell, and Herschel Lane Luttrell.
Jane is survived by her Daughter Donna Cox Allerkamp, Grandchildren
Cody Allerkamp (Michelle), and Amy Allerkamp. Great Grandchildren Maurice Wilson Jr, Tia Wilson, Zoe Allerkamp, Taliyah Wilson, Brown-Elliot Wilson, and numerous much-loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation - Sunday March 17th from 2pm -6pm, with family present from 4pm to 6pm at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans. Funeral Services will be held Monday March 18th at 10am at the First Baptist Church of Monahans with services conducted by Pastor Chris Powell. A burial will follow at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
Flowers can be sent to Harkey Funeral Home, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monahans Senior Citizens Center, Alzheimer Research Foundation, or charity of your choice in Ms. Cox's name.
