Jane Cox Obituary
The family later moved to Springfield, where Jane was part of the first graduating class of Hillcrest High School. On July 18, 1960, Jane married Louis Cox. She worked as a secretary for Springfield Public Schools for 38 years. Jane was very active in her church, Mt. Carmel UMC, for over 40 years, until the church's closure, when she joined Antioch UMC. After retirement, Jane cared for Louis during his illness and dedicated herself to volunteer work at the Council of Churches of the Ozarks.
She was proceeded in death by her husband and her parents.
Jane is survived by her children Richard (Robin) Cox and Todd (Angie) Cox; her grandchildren: Ashley Gammill, Matthew Cox, Sarai Pearl, and John Cox; her brother Paul (Elaine) Hasty and her sister Debbie (Webb) Edwards, as well as many other well-loved family members and friends.
Jane's gentle kindness, patience, and good works will not be forgotten.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Highway EE, Springfield, MO 65802 with funeral services to follow on Friday, May 3, 2023 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the
Council of Churches of the Ozarks, 3055 E Division, Springfield, MO 65802 or
Antioch United Methodist Church, 3614 N. Glenstone, Springfield, MO 65803. Online condolences can be made at www.klingfuneralhome.com

I will miss her sweet friendliness at the Council! Let her life be a testimony of what quiet consistency can do for a collective! That speaks so loudly to us all when it´s absent. Her whit and steadiness were a necessity to her team. I thought of the verse she embodied... Philippians 4:5 " Let your gentleness be evident to all."
Thanks amazing Jane for living a beautiful life in front of us. We will miss you terribly. Thank you for giving a part of yourself to us.
