Jane Holmes Hartsell, 69, of Midland, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025.

Jane was born January 17, 1956, in Albemarle, North Carolina, to the late Robert William Holmes of Garvagh, Northern Ireland and the late Frances Burris Holmes of Albemarle. Survivors include her beloved husband of 36 years, Rick Hartsell of Midland; sisters-in-law, Nan Vuncannon (Scott) of Monroe and Susan Redden (Michael) of Monroe; cousins Beth Burris of Spartanburg, SC, Brenda Burris Drake (Scott) of Greer, SC, Barbara Burris McManus (Lee) of Bolivia, NC. Also surviving are Elizabeth Hickey of Belfast, NI, and her three daughters and Sean McCrum of Dublin, Ireland and his three sons.

Jane graduated from West Stanly High School and the University of North Carolina Charlotte. She was employed as a Certified Public Account. Jane was the linchpin between her American and Irish families, traveling often to visit both. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and reading. Her lifelong love of animals was the legacy of growing up in rural Stanly County on the family farm. Most of all, Jane was a loving wife and devoted family member. She will be deeply missed and always remembered with love.

A service of witness to the resurrection and celebration of the life of Jane Hartsell will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm at Stanfield First Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at First Baptist Cemetery, Stanfield, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stanly County Humane Society, https://stanlycountyhumanesociety.org/donate.
