Jane Knight Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors - Hodgson Chapel on Mar. 7, 2026.
Jane Yawn Knight, a lifelong resident of Savannah, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Born in Savannah on May 7, 1942, to the late William R. and Mary Kathleen Yawn, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Lee Benton Knight, Jr.; her sister, Wylene Satchell; and brother, Willie Yawn.

Jane was a 1961 graduate of Herschel V. Jenkins High School. Known for her sharp, intuitive mind for numbers, Jane built a successful professional career in accounting. After developing her skills at Lazard, Lazard, Curlee & Bennett, CPA, she was recruited by Thomas & Hutton Engineering in 1985. Jane devoted 20 years to Thomas & Hutton where she helped manage the office and contributed to the company's growth and success.

Jane was a lifelong fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed gardening, reading, Black Friday shopping, bridge and boasting about her beloved grandchildren. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by her loving family, visiting the beach, boating on the weekends or testing her luck at the slot machines in a casino.

She is survived by her three devoted daughters: Betsy Hinz (Keith), Amanda Jane Mallard, and Jenny Ayscue (Tollie). She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Trey Thompson, Jessica Porter (Kevin), Candace Jones (Hunter), Elizabeth Grant (Alfred), Annie Jane Latta (Austin), Ivy Mallard, Kathleen Mallard, Claire Sturtevant (Cason), and Will Ayscue; and nine great-grandchildren: Camden, Adelaide, Wyatt, Alice, Marleigh, Alfie Knight, Selah Jane, AJ, and Alana.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Pink Fund, P.O Box 607, Southfield, MI 48037 or online at www.pinkfund.org for breast cancer support in honor of her granddaughter Elizabeth Grant.
