Shaw-Davis Funeral Homes & Cremation Services - Short North ChapelJane Leemhuis, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, just days before her 74th birthday. A beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, Jane was surrounded by love and care in her final days at hospice.
Throughout her life, Jane dedicated herself to the service of others, both professionally and personally. As a speech-language pathologist, she worked in a variety of educational and clinical settings, where she helped children overcome communication challenges. Her compassion, patience, and steadfast dedication profoundly impacted the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues.
Jane’s faith was a guiding force in her life. A longtime member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church, she was actively involved in the congregation, drawing strength and comfort from its community. Whether singing in the choir, participating in church activities, or lending a quiet hand in times of need, Jane lived her faith with steadfast grace.
Beyond her work and her faith, Jane was a passionate advocate for justice and social progress. She remained civically engaged throughout her life, supporting political and social causes that aligned with her values of equity, dignity, and compassion for all. She believed in making the world a better place — not only through words, but through action.
Jane is survived by her devoted husband of many years, Jeff Leemhuis; her loving daughter, Kathryn Leemhuis (Scholten); her sisters, Carol Milligan and Susan Milligan (Yingling); and several cherished nieces and nephews. She took great joy in her role as a grandmother and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, Lily and Clara, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
A memorial service to celebrate Jane’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 4131 N. High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43214. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and honor her memory.
