A native of Iowa, she made Mathews, Virginia, her residence since 1973, where she cultivated a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity that continues to uplift. Jane’s dedication to her friends, home, flower gardens, and beloved pets exemplified her compassionate heart. As a faithful member of Kingston Parish, she selflessly served on the Altar Guild and taught in the preschool for many years, spreading joy and warmth to all who knew her. Her radiant smile and infectious laughter could illuminate even the darkest of rooms, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lt. Col. Jesse S. Lockaby, Jr., and her sister, Anne Chittenden.
Her memory will live on through her sisters, Nancy Von Maur and Katherine Evans “Kitty”; numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend, Shirley Snow; and her caregivers with Ties That Bond LLC, all of whom she inspired with her selfless devotion.
