Jane Murray Long

Jane Murray Long, age 80, a lifelong resident of Selbyville, passed away peacefully at her home,

surrounded by her daughter, daughter-in-law, and beloved grandchildren. Jane was the daughter of the

late Clifton and Esther (Cooper) Murray.

Jane graduated from Selbyville High School in 1964 and from the University of Delaware in 1968.

Following graduation, she returned to Selbyville, where she dedicated thirty years to teaching, most of

them as a second-grade teacher at Phillip C. Showell Elementary School. She was recognized as

Teacher of the Year and was deeply devoted to both her students and her profession. In her continued

commitment to education, Jane later earned a master's degree in education from Salisbury University.

After retiring from teaching, she worked alongside her husband, Marvin, at Marvin's Market until their

retirement.

Jane was a lifelong member of Salem Church, where she faithfully served for many years on the altar

guild.

Above all else, Jane cherished her family-values instilled in her by her parents, who taught that "family

always comes first and you take care of one another." She found great joy in celebrating holidays and

special occasions with her large, close-knit family who shared those same beliefs.

Jane is survived by her loving daughter Kimberly Lewis and fiance Scott Magee; daughter-in-law Kim

McCullough, and her cherished grandchildren, Quinn McCullough, Emily McCullough, Kade Lewis, and

Mason Lewis. She is also survived by her siblings Clifton Murray (Delores), Jay Murray (Nora), and Kay

Lowe (Ernie) and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Long; son, Kent

McCullough; brother, Carlton Murray; sister, Ada Adkins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 12:00PM at the Bishop-Hastings Funeral

Home, 19 S. Main Street in Selbyville. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM before the

service. Burial will be in Redmen's Cemetery.
