Jane Mansfield Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Front Range Burial & Cremation Service on Feb. 13, 2026.
Jane Anne Orr Mansfield, 92, formerly of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on February 5, 2026 at Middleburg Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Middleburg, Florida. She was born August 21, 1933, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of William L. Orr and Vera (Westerland) Orr. She married Richard A. Mansfield on August 26, 1956.

Jane's scholastic journey began in a one room school in rural Missouri Valley, Iowa. She loved to tell the story about the time when she and another little girl got a case of the giggles, and the mean old schoolmarm took hold of each of them and "bonked" their heads together. She didn't care much for that teacher. Despite that, Jane graduated from Missouri Valley High School, and then attended Colorado Woman's College, where she was a member of the Gamma Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa sorority and made many lifelong friends. From there, she went on to graduate from The University of Colorado with a bachelor's degree in music education.

Jane taught elementary school in the Denver Public Schools until the birth of her boys, and then returned to teaching in the Aurora and Cherry Creek School districts once the boys could be counted upon to not burn the house down before she got home. All the while she gave private piano lessons in her home. Later on, she decided that it might be nice to work in the private sector, which she did until she retired in 1993.

Upon retirement, Jane's great joys were her family, especially her grandchildren, who were always welcome for the day, or overnight, or sometimes longer, and travel. She especially enjoyed spending time with her sister Ruth on a trip to London, a trip to Washington, D.C. with the grandchildren, and a cross country trip through Canada by train.

Jane was active in the church choir most of her life, from First Presbyterian Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa, her home town, to being the soloist at Capitol Heights Presbyterian Church in Denver to Wellshire Presbyterian Church in Denver, where she finally decided that she didn't have the energy to sing anymore. She did, however, find her second calling as a Stephen Minister, providing spiritual support to others in their time of need or pain. In that role, relying on her faith, and because of her compassion, and empathy, she truly excelled.

Family members include her son Paul (Michelle) Mansfield, Phillipsburg, Missouri, son Robert (Leah) Mansfield, Orange Park, Florida, grandsons Kyle (Brianne) Mansfield and Brian Mansfield, granddaughter Sarah (Jonathan) Olson, great granddaughter Alyona Olson, great grandsons Deker Mansfield, Miles Mansfield, and Caspar Mansfield, and great granddaughter Teyla Mansfield.

Preceded in death by her husband Richard, infant son William, and her sister Ruth.
