Mrs. Jane E. (Gustafson) Mudd, 65, of Jacksonville, Illinois, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois died at 12:03 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 4, 1960, to Phillip and Shirley (Sandeen) Gustafson in Galesburg. She married James Mudd on August 15, 1992, in Mt. Pulaski, Illinois.

Surviving is her husband of 33 years, Jim Mudd of Jacksonville, a son, Joey Mudd of Chicago, Illinois, a sister, Janet Rucks of Jacksonville, a nephew, Christian Gustafson of Alaska, and a niece, Kristin (and John) Rucks Wellenkamp of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Phillip Gustafson.

Jane graduated from Urbana High School in 1978. She continued her education and received her Nursing degree from Carl Sandburg College where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg. She enjoyed singing and was a member of Choral Dynamics in Galesburg. She and her husband, Jim, enjoyed shopping at flea markets for antiques. Jane loved animals, especially her many dogs.

As Jane requested, cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Life visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. A private committal service will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to P.A.W.S. in Jacksonville. Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com.
