Obituary of Jane Keckonen Munger
Jane Keckonen Munger passed away on December 13, 2023 in Fruitland Park Florida.
Jane was born on January 25, 1926 in Mt. Clemens, MI to Dugan Darnell and Helen Ann Chapman. She was a proud graduate of Michigan State University. Jane worked as an elementary school teacher in Clawson, MI and Bloomfield Hills, MI.
Jane moved to The Villages with her first husband Ernie Keckonen in 1990 and lived in the Village of Siver Lake. They were very involved in everything The Villages had to offer. She was a cheer leader, played golf, square danced and took tap and precision dance classes. Jane and Ernie were active participants in The Battle of the Sexes (BOTS).
Jane married John Munger in 2010 and moved to Texas, but The Villages called them back in 2013 where they lived in the Village of Winifred.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles Darnell, her first husband Ernest Keckonen and great grandson Windsor.
Jane is survived by her husband, John Munger; children Joanne Newberry (Dean), Ernest Keckonen, Paul Keckonen (Mike Davenport), David Keckonen (Laura), Thomas Keckonen (Lynn); step daughters Debra Evans, Kerry Olson and Nancy Shallow; sisters Gayle Stenerson and Sharon Barricks; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral and Burial Service will be held at 11:00 on January 25, 2024 at The Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
Memorials may be given to the Wildwood Soup Kitchen.
Jane's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Amy Cearley and the staff of The Lighthouse in Fruitland Park for the loving care you gave Jane.
