Jane Pfettscher Obituary
Jane was a 1962 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. While in high school, she worked as a curb girl at Parkett Restaurant, detasseled corn, and helped around her home. She later devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mother while raising her children, before returning to work as a histology technician at Deaconess. To provide for her family, Jane also worked as a house cleaner and nanny for several families and served as a cook at the Yukon Inn.
Jane found great joy in caring for her grandchildren and loved playing cards with them and her great-grandchildren. Of all her work, caring for the Kuhlenschmidt family and their seven children was especially meaningful to her; they became her second family. A devoted member of St. Peter's On The Hill, when she was able, Jane enjoyed visiting fellow church members in their homes and in nursing homes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Reich; brothers, Richard "Dick", Numa Gene, Herdis, Charles, and Kenneth Wells; and her aunt Dorothy "Dotty" Seifert, who supported her throughout life.
She is survived by her daughter, LaDonna (Jason) Huber; son, Chad (Dani) Pfettscher; grandchildren, Andy (Holly) Huber, Chelsea (Andrew) Konrath, and Riley Pfettscher; great-grandchildren, Avery and Levi Huber, Grayson, Cooper, and Blakely Konrath; brothers, Paul, George, Ellis (Evangeline), and Carl (Nancy) Wells; sister, Brenda Jones; sisters-in-law, Frieda Wells and Patricia Wells; brother-in-law, Glenn Reich; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620 with Pastor Josh Nichols officiating and burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm service time on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's On The Hill or Habitat for Humanity of Evansville.
