Jane Marie Ries

Jane M. Ries age 87 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday Feb 24, 2026, at the Vista Veranda Assisted Living in Ravenna. She was born on Feb 15, 1939, in Newton Falls, OH the daughter of the late John Ries and Elizabeth Ann (Tiefenbach) Ries. After high school, she attended Kent State University and earned her Master's Degree in Education from Westminster University. Jane had lived in Newton Falls her entire life and worked as a 4th grade Teacher for Newton Falls Exempted Village Schools for 30 years. She was a member of the St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years, and she loved traveling and reading books. Jane is preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister: Betty Ann Harrison, 1 brother: John Ries, and 1 nephew: Timothy Harrison.

She is survived by: 2 brothers: James & Anita Ries, Joseph & Karen Ries, a brother in law: Joseph Harrison, a sister in law: Patricia Ries, nieces: Phyllis Harrison, Luanne & Larry Nowak, Amanda & Thomas Pence, nephews: John & Noel Ries, Brian & Carla Ries, James & Denise Ries, Christopher & Susan Ries, David & Jennifer Ries, Brendan & Nicole Ries, and many great nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Thursday March 5, 2026, at 10:30am with Pastor Gary Beck officiating. Calling hours will be from 9:30- 10:30 am. She will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery in Newton Falls.
